Hi All,

I came across this while surfing the security sites:

Maybe it's possible to implement this feature in the InterWorx-CP.
Enabling/Disabling this on the NodeWorx level is a must if it's implemented.

I believe that no other CP has this feature.

Half the spam I get doesn't even have any content... the rest are just from some weird email address with a dodgy subject, and are plain-text, so my local Bayesian spam filter picks it up easily.

Can you be more specific than that, Alex? More effective in general "out of the box"? Easier to configure. I guess I'm asking for why (in detail) you think we should replace SA with this (having two antispam programs would probably be confusing).

From my *minor* experience with it (I'm not running it on an iworx box, mind you) I've noticed a dramatic decrease in spam that is able to get through with little to no configuration. So yes, it could be safe to say that it works better than SpamAssassin out of the box.

Another reason is: In the dspam site, it is mentioned that dspam is written in C. So, it should be faster than interpreted code.

If possible, you could give an option for the client (i.e., the server admin) to choose dspam or SA while installing iworx or at anytime.

As an option during the install process might work

Select Spam Filtering software to install 1 SpamAssasin 2 dspam

But giving the option later would just confuse things and clutter the interface, I think.

I know in the past we've tried to stick with software written in internet technilogies like like php and perl but c is also a common language.

Yeah, I hope that InterWorx will add DSPAM. Also for DSPAM you must keep SpamAssassin.

I know a company that is using DSPAM and all customers are very statisfied with it.

Also when your email address is: dave@mydomain.com and you got a spam on that mail. Just forward that mail to: dave-spam@mydomain.com and it will me rejected the next time :)

I will wait when InterWorx will add DSPAM. :D

I have a client using an exchange server and they get a lot of image / pdf spam with little or not content in the email. I believe this is going to get more common as time goes on so its good to know there is stuff out there to fight back.

So, you say dspam could help with image spams?I guess not only with image spams. DSPAM works much better then SpamAssassin. You must configure SpamAssassin with DSPAM. Then you can forward spam mail to yourusername-spam@yourdomain.com and the next time it will be deleted.

And there is a webinterface off DSPAM what you can install if you want. Take a look on there site, I think there are more people that like DSPAM.

I searched on Google.. and I found a nice thread about DSPAM with QMAIL.
When I have more time, I will try to install DSPAM with QMAIL, after the installation I will let you know if it works great, and if the installation is easy or not.
