It's been a long time coming and I'd like to show everyone what we've been working hard on for the last 4 months.
Below you'll find InterWorx-CP screenshots for the upcoming version 2.0.0.
We've revamped both NodeWorx and SiteWorx with a new (cleaner) look, less graphics and easier menus.
We've redesigned totally the NodeWorx interface to make it more admin friendly and we've taken many of your suggestions and turned them into features in the new interface.
We've added service-level features to allow you to easily manipulate dns/mail/web/mysql/ftp settings. We've tried to make the most used options easily available to the admin. As always, you can still edit the config files to change any options you like as well. Editing the httpd.conf, proftpd.conf etc won't break things and the interface will adapt :).
We've also added some major features including RESELLERS :), Script auto-installers, Shell user management (with JAILED ssh), NodeWorx CRON support, Importers for ALL major control panels (plesk, direct admin, cpanel, ensim) and a ton more.
We'll be releasing version 2.0.0 during the HostingCon show (http://hostingcon.com) and we're looking forward to all of your feedback.
Thanks, as always for your continued support!
Chris

Looks VERY cool. I may not ever have to login in on SSH anymore :D
It's amazing you guys added all these features and still have time to answer our questions in the forum! Good job, looking forward to trying it out. I see you said it will be shown at HostingCon in early June, but when will it be available for end users?

We've been testing internally and it'll be ready for BETA testers mid-week, and released 1 or 2 weeks thereafter depending on the feedback.
I wanted to make clear we'll be releasing it at or a few days before HostingCon for all users. While we're going to debut it there it'll be available for general use by the show.

Not at all. It's more that I'm implying that the Souken contention has a shortage of tickets. ;)

Wow! I can't wait to use it. I'll definitely be buying another server for this. I assume CentOS 4 will be supported in 2.0?
IWorx-Chris
05-23-2005, 02:17 PM
PaulK, yes, the screenshots posted were from a CentOS4 test server as seen on the 'nodeworx-home' screenshot :) and we'll be officially supporting it with the 2.0 release.

Sure Lineman, drive on up and we'd be happy to slap an iworx shirt on you!!
Btw, very good articles in the last pingzine, how did you manage to squeeze 2 in there!??

In 2.0 will end users be able to use mutliple domains in their account? Like addon domains?
IWorx-Chris
05-23-2005, 04:12 PM
xlogicgroup,
There's a nomenclature issue here. We use the term "pointer" or "addon" domains to make mutiple domains pointed to a single account (i.e. iworx-cp.com and iworx-cp.info point to interworx.info).
I think you're talking about multiple separate domains per siteworx account and I'll try to answer this clearly as it is (sort of) supported now via the reseller system.
You can make a reseller account that obviously supports multiple domains in v2.0.0, this is a new addition.
You cannot create a SiteWorx account that supports multiple domains, this is slated for the subsequent full release of the software which we're shooting for later this summer on.
So, to answer your question, you can fake full multiple domain support with a reseller account, but we are planning multiple domain support for the following full release of InterWorx-CP.

Perfect thats what I needed to know :) One last question will Clientexec support be in 2.0?
IWorx-Chris

Maybe if I can cut through south Jersey on the way. CMI would be jealous. :)

Either they had the space to spare or I'm just that good. I'll be in their HostingCon issue, too. Only had room for one of mine there.
I'd be impressed if I didn't already expect you guys to blow us away :)
Very nice indeed. But one thing... PHPNuke?!?! I'm dissapointed in you guys. ;P

And phpBB :S, it's toggable, and off by default. We let you be the judge :).

Let's be realistic. Probably 75% of their hosting customers probably request phpBB or PHPNuke. :)

Yeah, but maybe if those aren't available straight off and other alternatives are they will give the other stuff a shot :) We have to nudge everyone in the right direction because your average person is a sheep :)

Will Front Page be in 2.0? Also will there be any firewalls even low functioning firewalls by default?
IWorx-Chris
05-25-2005, 11:57 AM
godboko,
No frontpage or firewalls.
Firewall support will be in the following release and we may try for frontpage as well. frontpage and apache 2 have been a royal pain thus far.

Which firewall?
A custom one or something like APF? I have APF running now with 1.9.2 and it works great!
Also, any ideas on Java (JSP) support?
To me JSP would be a bigger priority than FrontPage, but I guess thats from my point of view as mainly a web develper and not solely hosting a lot of clients on my server.
IWorx-Chris
05-25-2005, 03:38 PM
We'll be putting an iworx-cp interface over APF. We try, as always, to use the most known / liked software and put a clean face on it for those users who aren't used to using it or would just rather use a nicer interface. You will still be able to edit everying via the command line as well, as always :).
If anyone has JSP / Servlets working on an iworx-cp box I'd be happy to check it out and possibly include it in the software. I'm not sure if it'll make it into the next release otherwise but it will be there at some point.
Chris
I'm working on JSP for our box Chris, so if/when I get it working you can go in there and check everything out.

Good to hear Im not the only one that thinks this would be a nice addition. I really love PHP and PHP5 (which I don't have on our server yet) seems like it is a lot better (with the OO and all). But I would really love to have the flexablity to program in either.

Hey Cris, thanks for the reply Frontpage is low on my list now.
Glad to hear a firewall will be included in the future.
Oh One thing I noticed on my box since using Interworx I have gone from normal memory loads to high memory loadfs and my pageviews DB usage and email usage has changed little since I have started using Interworx.
Just wondering if this is normal and if so if anything has been done for this latest release.
BTW I am still interersted in Beta Testing if you still need testers.

If you're coming from a box without a control panel you'll see a little more overhead but nothing to be worried of.
I'll answer your PM wth BETA info this evening godboko.

I had cpanel on a server half has fast. I think it has to do with apache's config, but not having luck finding any good tuts on optimizing it.
Anyway enough off topic stuff, thanks for taking the time to reply to my messages.

Sadly, PHPNuke is still a hugely popular CMS. I lean toward Drupal/CivicSpace these days ;-)
Oh, and Chris, you slowly winning me over to vBulletin. I've converted two of my phpBB forums to vBulletin and have a third liscence. I just haven't decided which site to use it on :-)

How much does that cost? I really like using vBulletin better than PHPbb, but I also like the freeness part of the PHPbb

The liscence cost is pro-rated based upon how many liscences you have/are buying, and there is a one year liscence or an owned liscence.
It's not exactly cheap, which is why I've avoided it untill recently, but it is SO much more customizable. Simple Minds Forum is alo free, and has a lot of what vb has but I hate the admin interface ;-)

v2 looks great folks! I am ready to get on board with Interworx and want to know how long you think it will take to get v2 out to your partners, specifically Sagonet as I am ready to go with a server from them. Or will an upgrade from v1.9 be a non-issue? Thanks and keep up the good work.

Chrimpson,
Upgarding from 1.9.2 is smooth but I'd wait until 2.0.0 is out to have the ssh JAILs setup by default. Upgrading from 1.9.2 need some manual fixing to get them working. And 2.0.0 will be out by Friday (6/3) at the latest.

hehe you've done a great works !!!
Do not forget to give me the new language file to allow me to translate the new data in french !!!
Could I have a beta access ?
Like this, I'll change the french language file. (I have 2 boxes available for this). Also if I remember well Socheat or Paul gave me a long time ago a command to automaticly have the new data added and not translated. With this one I don't have to read/update the full txt language file
Chris you should have my email. Send me an email if it is ok.
Great jobs

I can testify to that. I've been trying to get that to work both from source and your RPM for quite a while now without success. Now that I have two servers and don't need to wory about killing apache and shutting down "live" sites I can try it again.
I DID have it working on a single domain two servers ago but I'll be danged if I can remember how I did it :-/
