How to Add a DNS Listening Server
Prerequisites
Last Updated for InterWorx version 3.0.1
- At least two InterWorx-CP servers
Purpose
The purpose of this how-to is to walk you through the process of setting up one InterWorx-CP server to listen and publish DNS Zones for another InterWorx-CP server.
Procedure - Retrieve the DNS Listener's API Key
| The following are to be performed on the InterWorx-CP server that will be listening to and publishing zones for another InterWorx-CP Server |
- Click on the menu if it is not already expanded.
- Click on the ♦ API Key item.
- You should now be looking at the API Key controls in the main content area.
- If an API Key is not already displayed, click the button.
- Copy the API key text blob to your local clipboard as you will need the copied API key for the next step
- Proceed to the Add DNS Listening Server step
Procedure - Add DNS Listening Server
| The following are to be performed on the Server who’s DNS Zones will be listened to |
- Click on the menu if it is not already expanded.
- Click on the submenu if it is not already expanded.
- Click on the ◊ Synchronization item.
- You should now be looking at the DNS Management :: Synchronization controls in the main content area.
- Enter the hostname or IP address of the InterWorx-CP server that will be Listening to and publishing this server’s DNS Zones in the hostname field.
- Enter the API key from the previous procedure into the API Key field.
- It is recommended that you test your setup using the button. Doing a pre-addition test weeds out 90% of Node addition errors that can occur.
- After a successful test run (denoted by the message: >> DNS host passed all pre DNS-sync tests : hostname) press the button to complete the DNS Listener addition.
- The add will return with either: >> Node added successfully or an error regarding what happened.
