How to delete a .htaccess file

Prerequisites

An existing SiteWorx account. At least one .htaccess file.

Purpose

.htaccess files can be deleted via the SiteWorx interface.

Procedure - Delete the domain wide .htaccess file

  1. Click on the Site Services menu if it is not already expanded.
  2. Click on the ♦    Directory Options item.
  3. You should now be looking at the Directory Options Management controls in the main content area.
  4. Locate the Global Directory Options section.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. You will see a confirmation page. Click the Delete button to confirm.
  7. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: » The .htaccess file was deleted: directory.

Procedure - Delete a directory specific .htaccess file

  1. Click on the Site Services menu if it is not already expanded.
  2. Click on the ♦    Directory Options item.
  3. You should now be looking at the Directory Options Management controls in the main content area.
  4. Locate the Per Directory Options section.
  5. Click the checkbox next to the directory or directories you want to delete the .htaccess file from.
  6. Using the drop down at the bottom of the list of directories, select “Delete ...”.
  7. You will see a confirmation page. Click the Delete button to confirm.
  8. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: » The .htaccess file was deleted: directory.
