How to enable a .htaccess file
Prerequisites

An existing SiteWorx account.
An existing disabled .htaccess file
Purpose
Before you can use the .htaccess file features, including Access Control, Custom Error Documents, MIME-Types, etc, a .htaccess file must be enabled.
Procedure - Enable a domain wide .htaccess file
- Click on the menu if it is not already expanded.
- Click on the ♦ Directory Options item.
- You should now be looking at the Directory Options Management controls in the main content area.
- Locate the Global Directory Options section.
- If a domain wide .htaccess file is currently disabled, you will see a button. Click this button to enable the .htaccess file.
- You will see the following message at the top of the screen: » The .htaccess file was enabled: directory.
Procedure - Add a directory specific .htaccess file
- Click on the menu if it is not already expanded.
- Click on the ♦ Directory Options item.
- You should now be looking at the Directory Options Management controls in the main content area.
- Locate the Per Directory Options section.
- Click the checkbox next to the directory or directories you want to enable the .htaccess file in.
- Using the drop down at the bottom of the list of directories, select “Enable”.
- You will see the following message at the top of the screen: » The .htaccess file was enabled: directory.
