Overview of Managing IP Addresses With InterWorx Control Panel

InterWorx Control Panel provides a simple-to-use interface for managing the IP address(es) on an InterWorx Control Panel System. From the IP Management screen, you can make an IP address available to the system, InterWorx Control Panel, and/or resellers; remove an IP address from the server; and add one or a range of IP addresses.

1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the Add IP Addresses section.
4. Type the IP address in the IP Range Start field.
5. The IP Range End field will auto-populate with the same IP address.
6. Enter the netmask in the Netmask field.
7. Select the device you wish to add this IP address to from the Device drop-down list. eth0 is the primary NIC.
8. Select Shared or Dedicated in the Type field. If an IP address is shared, multiple SiteWorx accounts will be able to share that IP address.
9. If you wish to make this IP address available to resellers, select Yes in the Available to Resellers drop-down list.
10. Click the Add button.
11. You will see the following set of messages at the top of the screen:
    IP added successfully : ipaddress
    IP activated on the system : ipaddress
    DNS server mapped successfully

1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the Add IP Addresses section.
4. Type the IP address in the IP Range Start field.
5. The IP Range End field will auto-populate with the same IP address. Change this to the end address of the IP block you wish to add.
6. Enter the netmask in the Netmask field.
7. Select the device you wish to add this IP address to from the Device drop-down list. eth0 is the primary NIC.
8. Select Shared or Dedicated in the Type field. If an IP address is shared, multiple SiteWorx accounts will be able to share that IP address.
9. If you wish to make these IP addresses available to resellers, select Yes in the Available to Resellers drop-down list.
10. Click the Add button.
11. You will see the following set of messages at the top of the screen:
    IP added successfully : ipaddress
    IP activated on the system : ipaddress
    DNS server mapped successfully

An IP cannot have any SiteWorx accounts on it before it is deleted.

1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the IP Address List section.
4. Find the IP Address you wish to remove from the system.
5. Select No from the drop-down list in the Active on System column.
6. Select No from the drop-down list in the Active in IWorx-CP column.
7. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
8. The IP address(es) will be removed from the list.
9. You will see the following set of messages at the top of the screen:
   IP deleted from system successfully : ipaddress
   DNS server unmapped successfully

InterWorx classifies IP's into 2 categories: shared and dedicated.

Shared
Shared IP's can be used by multiple SiteWorx accounts and Resellers without any conflict. The downside is will not be available to any SiteWorx accounts on that IP. Also, in the event of a DNS issue, only the first alphabetically SiteWorx account will be accessible by that IP (in the standard configuration).

Dedicated
Dedicated IP's can only be used by one SiteWorx account with the advantage that SSL can be used on that domain and in the event of a DNS outage the site is still reachable via IP.

1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the IP Address List section.
4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.
5. Select Shared from the drop-down list in the Type column.
6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
7. The IP address(es) chosen will now be shared.
8. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: IP type converted successfully : ipaddress

1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the IP Address List section.
4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.
5. Select Dedicated from the drop-down list in the Type column.
6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
7. The IP address(es) chosen will now be dedicated.
8. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: IP type converted successfully : ipaddress

1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the IP Address List section.
4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.
5. Select Yes from the drop-down list in the Active in IWorx-CP column.
6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
7. The background color of the drop-down list in the Active in IWorx-CP column should change from RED to GREEN for the IP address(es) changed.
8. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: IP added successfully : ipaddress

The IP address must exist and be active in the InterWorx Control Panel system. An IP address is active in InterWorx Control Panel if it has a value of Yes in the drop-down list with a background color of GREEN in the Available to IWorx-CP column.

3. Locate the IP Address List section.
4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.
5. Select Yes from the drop-down list in the Available to Resellers column.
6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
7. The background color of the drop-down list in the in the Available to Resellers column should change from blue to green for the IP address(es) changed.
8. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: IP made available to resellers : ipaddress

2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the IP Address List section.
4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.
5. Select No from the drop-down list in the Available to Resellers column.
6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
7. The background color of the drop-down list in the in the Available to Resellers column should change from green to blue for the IP address(es) changed.
8. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: IP made unavailable to resellers : ipaddress

When using InterWorx behind a NAT device on a local LAN, you will still want DNS to associate that local IP with a public IP for the purposes of hosting websites. In order for this to happen, you will need to set the public IP a private LAN IP is mapped to in the IP management interface.

1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Locate the IP Address section.
4. In the External IP (for DNS) column, find the field next to the IP address you wish to advertise DNS for.
5. Type in the IP address you wish to advertise to the DNS system.
6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the table.
7. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: External IP set successfully : exampleIPAddr1 ⇒ exampleIPAddr2.

2. Click the IP Management menu item.
3. Click the [ # Domains ] link in the Status column.
4. You will be taken to a page that displays all of the domains using that IP address.

3. Click the [ # Resellers ] link in the Status column.
4. You will be taken to a page that displays all of the Resellers with access to that IP address.
