InterWorx Control Panel provides a simple-to-use interface for managing the IP address(es) on an InterWorx Control Panel System. From the IP Management screen, you can make an IP address available to the system, InterWorx Control Panel, and/or resellers; remove an IP address from the server; and add one or a range of IP addresses.
InterWorx classifies IP's into 2 categories: shared and dedicated.
Shared
Shared IP's can be used by multiple SiteWorx accounts and Resellers without any conflict. The downside is will not be available to any SiteWorx accounts on that IP. Also, in the event of a DNS issue, only the first alphabetically SiteWorx account will be accessible by that IP (in the standard configuration).
Dedicated
Dedicated IP's can only be used by one SiteWorx account with the advantage that SSL can be used on that domain and in the event of a DNS outage the site is still reachable via IP.
The IP address must exist and be active in the InterWorx Control Panel system. An IP address is active in InterWorx Control Panel if it has a value of Yes in the drop-down list with a background color of GREEN in the Available to IWorx-CP column.
Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
Click the IP Management menu item.
Locate the IP Address List section.
Find the IP Address you wish to modify.
Select Yes from the drop-down list in the Available to Resellers column.
Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
The background color of the drop-down list in the in the Available to Resellers column should change from blue to green for the IP address(es) changed.
You will see the following message at the top of the screen: IP made available to resellers : ipaddress
Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
Click the IP Management menu item.
Locate the IP Address List section.
Find the IP Address you wish to modify.
Select No from the drop-down list in the Available to Resellers column.
Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.
The background color of the drop-down list in the in the Available to Resellers column should change from green to blue for the IP address(es) changed.
You will see the following message at the top of the screen: IP made unavailable to resellers : ipaddress
When using InterWorx behind a NAT device on a local LAN, you will still want DNS to associate that local IP with a public IP for the purposes of hosting websites. In order for this to happen, you will need to set the public IP a private LAN IP is mapped to in the IP management interface.
Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.
Click the IP Management menu item.
Locate the IP Address section.
In the External IP (for DNS) column, find the field next to the IP address you wish to advertise DNS for.
Type in the IP address you wish to advertise to the DNS system.
Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the table.
You will see the following message at the top of the screen: External IP set successfully : exampleIPAddr1 ⇒ exampleIPAddr2.
