SSH Server

InterWorx is able to control the OS-bundled SSHd daemon from the NodeWorx administrator interface. You can toggle settings, kill SSH sessions, and even completely disable SSH login.

It is highly recommended you do not disable SSHd if you do not have physical or KVM access to your server. SSH is typically the fail-safe for all servers in the event there is a catastrophic failure of some sort and the panel becomes unreachable. Also, SSH access is required by InterWorx support staff to gain access to your server to diagnose problems.

HowTos:

Enable/Disable Root Login

  1. Click the Icon System Services menu item if it is not already open.
  2. Click the Icon SSH Server menu item.

  4. Locate the line: Allow Root Login: .
  5. Select the desired setting, Yes or No.
  6. Click to change the SSHd configuration and restart the SSHd daemon.
You will be unable to log directly in as the root user via SSH. You will need to log in as another user and su - to switch to root, or alternatively set up a user with sudo privileges.

  5. Select Terminate from the dropdown menu below the list of active sessions

Graphical or X server sessions will also appear on this list if you are using an OS with a GUI installed. You cannot terminate these from the NodeWorx interface.
