System Services

This documentation covers the basic control of System Services via the NodeWorx interface. All system service interfaces have very similar controls and thus the documentation have been combined into a single place. Examples of System Services are Apache, Qmail, POP3, SpamAssassin, ClamAV, FTP, MySQL, and NFS.
How To:

Stop a System Service

  1. If the "System Services" submenu on the left is not already expanded, click on "System Services" to expand the menu.
  2. Click on the submenu of the service you wish to stop --- for example, "MySQL".
  3. Click on the "Overview" submenu if it exists.
  4. If no "Overview" submenu item exists, you are most likely already at the proper location.
  5. Locate the "Server Control" section.
  6. Click the button to stop the service.
  7. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: Service Successfully Stopped.
  8. You should also see the Status indicator switch from Running to Stopped.

Start a System Service

  1. If the "System Services" submenu on the left is not already expanded, click on "System Services" to expand the menu.
  2. Click on the submenu of the service you wish to start --- for example, "MySQL".
  3. Click on the "Overview" submenu if it exists.
  4. If no "Overview" submenu item exists, you are most likely already at the proper location.
  5. Locate the "Server Control" section.
  6. Click the button to start the service.
  7. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: Service Successfully Started.
  8. You should also see the Status indicator switch from Stopped to Running.

Restart a System Service

  1. If the "System Services" submenu on the left is not already expanded, click on "System Services" to expand the menu.
  2. Click on the submenu of the service you wish to restart --- for example, "MySQL".
  3. Click on the "Overview" submenu if it exists.
  4. If no "Overview" submenu item exists, you are most likely already at the proper location.
  5. Locate the Server Control section.
  6. Click the button to restart the service.
  7. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: Service Successfully Restarted.

Toggle Service to Start-on-Boot

  1. If the "System Services" submenu on the left is not already expanded, click on "System Services" to expand the menu.
  2. Click on the submenu of the service you wish to stop --- for example, "MySQL".
  3. Click on the "Overview" submenu if it exists.
  4. If no "Overview" submenu item exists, you are most likely already at the proper location.
  5. Locate the Server Control section.
  6. Select Yes or No from the Start on system boot-up dropdown box.
  7. You should a message similar to "MySQL will be started at system boot-up" or "MySQL will NOT be started at system boot-up at the top of the screen.

Toggle Service to Auto-Restart

  1. If the "System Services" submenu on the left is not already expanded, click on "System Services" to expand the menu.
  2. Click on the submenu of the service you wish to stop --- for example, "MySQL".
  3. Click on the "Overview" submenu if it exists.
  4. If no "Overview" submenu item exists, you are most likely already at the proper location.
  5. Locate the Server Control section.
  6. Select Yes or No from the Auto-restart dropdown box.
  7. You should a message similar to "MySQL auto-restart enabled" or "MySQL auto-restart disabled" at the top of the screen.

Toggle A Service Graph Display On and Off

  1. Click on the submenu of the service you wish to toggle the RRD graph for - for example, "MySQL".
  2. Click on the "Overview" submenu if it exists.
  3. If no "Overview" submenu item exists, you are most likely already at the proper location.
  4. Locate the Server Management section.
  5. Select On or Off from the RRD Graphs dropdown box.
  6. Click the button.
  7. Depending on your selection, you will see a graph appear or disappear at the top of the page.
