For Immediate Release: 02.28.2005
InterWorx has released version 1.9.0 of the innovative InterWorx Server Management Suite (InterWorx-CP). The popular InterWorx-CP has been updated with several notable upgrades:
For the first time server administrators and site owners have the ability to back up and restore individual websites, including web documents, email, and databases. Users can backup any combination of web data, email, and databases, or conduct complete web site backups. The administrator can now backup or restore single or multiple websites.
Users of the cPanel(tm) website manager will find the switch to the InterWorx-CP simple with InterWorx-CP’s new cPanel(tm) import utility. Simply convert a cPanel(tm) backup file to an InterWorx-CP SiteWorx account with one click.
InterWorx-CP now gives the administrator and client the ability to scan email for viruses and filter SPAM with the integration of the popular open source antivirus software ClamAV and email filter SpamAssassin. This works on both the MTA and MDA level. There are global settings that apply to the server as a whole and per-domain settings for each SiteWorx account on the server. This is all fully configurable via the software. Virus updates are automatic.
InterWorx-CP is also now more accessible to non-English speakers, with the addition of multi-language support. Version 1.9 ships with English and French language files, along with the ability to add more languages, which will be included with future releases, as the language files are created. Languages can be set on a per-user basis.
There have been some refinements to the DNS settings: To comply with the SPF method of spam prevention IWorx-CP now supports the TXT DNS record, and IWorx-CP now supports wildcard DNS entries (*.domain.com)
By popular request, integration with the statistics software packages AWStats and Analog Stats will provide more options in analyzing site traffic.
SiteWorx SSL Certificates Now Support “Chain” certificates. A chain certificate is a digital certificate that provides a bridge of trust between a Certificate Authority (CA) that your browser already trusts with a new and/or previously unknown CA that your browser may or may not already trust.
Integrated software updates include an upgrade of the popular webmail program Horde to version 3.0, which includes significant refinements. Squirrelmail and phpMyAdmin were also upgraded to the latest stable releases.
Red Hat Linux’s Fedora Core 3, RedHat Enterprise Linux 4.x, and CentOS 3.4x are now officially supported; and InterWorx-CP 1.9 also includes support for 64-bit platforms as well.
IWorx-CP is now compatible with the default Apache, MySQL and PHP installs on *all* supported platforms. This allows clients that wish to stick to a “stock” system to do so and it is the new default.
