InterWorx Control Panel provides a simple-to-use interface for managing the IP address(es) on an InterWorx Control Panel System. From the IP Management screen, you can make an IP address available to the system, InterWorx Control Panel, and/or resellers; remove an IP address from the server; and add one or a range of IP addresses.
After adding a range of IP addresses, you can easily manipulate a single IP address within that range.
An IP cannot have any SiteWorx accounts on it before it is deleted.
InterWorx classifies IP's into 2 categories: shared and dedicated.
IP's can be used by multiple SiteWorx accounts and Resellers without any conflict. The downside is will not be available to any SiteWorx accounts on that IP. Also, in the event of a DNS issue, only the first alphabetically SiteWorx account will be accessible by that IP (in the standard configuration).
Dedicated IP's can only be used by one SiteWorx account with the advantage that SSL can be used on that domain and in the event of a DNS outage the site is still reachable via IP.
The IP address must exist and be active in the InterWorx Control Panel system. An IP address is active in InterWorx Control Panel if it has a value of Yes in the drop-down list with a background color of GREEN in the Available to IWorx-CP column.
When using InterWorx behind a NAT device on a local LAN, you will still want DNS to associate that local IP with a public IP for the purposes of hosting websites. In order for this to happen, you will need to set the public IP a private LAN IP is mapped to in the IP management interface.
